Our editorial team

Who writes this, how it gets checked, and what happens when we get it wrong.

Who writes

Pages here are signed The Quiet Garden Editors. That is a real editorial desk working to a shared brief, in the ordinary sense that a newspaper section is written by its desk — not a way of avoiding a name. Where an individual writer's expertise is material to a page, we name them on that page.

We do not invent authors. There is no fictional teacher, no stock-photo founder and no invented credential anywhere on this site. If you ever find one, it is a mistake and we want to hear about it.

How a page gets made

  1. A real question first. We only open a page when we can name the specific thing a reader is trying to find out and can see that the existing answers are thin, dated or selling something.
  2. Primary sources. Health and evidence claims are checked against public health bodies and clinical guidance — NCCIH, NICE, NHS — not against other blogs.
  3. Our own diagrams. Where a drawing explains something better than a paragraph, we draw it ourselves rather than reaching for a stock image of someone meditating on a beach.
  4. A human reads it before it goes out, checks the claims, and cuts what doesn't earn its place.
  5. A last-checked date goes at the bottom of every guide, so you can see how fresh it is.

Expert review

Meditation sits next to health, and we treat it that way. Our cornerstone guides are reviewed by a qualified meditation teacher before publication, and the reviewer is named on the page they reviewed. Where a page carries no reviewer name, it has not yet been through that step — and we would rather show you that than imply otherwise.

Where we stop

We write about meditation practice and the place you practise it. We are not clinicians, we do not give medical or psychological advice, and we do not diagnose. Related fields — sound and frequency work, energy practices, qi gong, reiki, feng shui — are outside what we know well, and we would rather send you elsewhere than pretend.

Corrections

If we publish something wrong, we correct it on the page and note what changed and when, at the bottom. We don't quietly edit and move on. Tell us and we'll look at it.
